Khabib Nurmagomedov has claimed that Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul's blockbuster fight was "purely business" and had no "competitive aspect to it."

Mayweather, 44, made his sensational return to the boxing ring for an eight-round exhibition clash with Paul at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The boxing legend dominated his opponent over the course of eight rounds, but Mayweather was unable to knock out Paul in their lucrative fight.

Judges were not at ringside for the bout and no official winner was declared, despite Jake Paul claiming that his older brother defeated Mayweather.

Khabib, who announced his shock retirement in 2020, has had a heated rivalry with Mayweather in the past.

And the 32-year-old Russian superstar was reportedly offered a whopping $100m to face Mayweather after his retirement at UFC 254.

Khabib pulled no punches towards the Mayweather vs Paul fight, saying it was a money-making exercise and lacked any form of competition.

Speaking ahead of Eagle FC 37, the UFC legend told reporters (via RT Sport): "What's there to say? They came out, made money. It's purely business.

"There was no competitive aspect to it, old Mayweather came out, they sparred and made money -- what else is there to say?

"How do I feel about it? The guys decided to make money, should I tell them to not make money and not to fight?

"They came out, put on a show and earned what, tens of millions?"

UFC president Dana White has since revealed that the Mayweather vs Paul fight did a staggering million pay-per-view buys.

However, White slammed the fight by insisting it "wasn't a f*****g boxing match," adding that there is "always going to be a market for that kind of stuff."

Khabib secured a sensational second-round submission victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 last October to notch up his 29th career win inside the octagon.

The Eagle later vacated the UFC lightweight championship and retired undefeated with an unblemished 29-0 record.
