Anthony Johnson has his sights set on securing a mega clash with Jon Jones as he prepares to return to the UFC from a two-and-a-half-year hiatus.

The 35-year-old last stepped into the octagon in 2017 and suffered a loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 210 for the Light Heavyweight Championship.

But 'Rumble' has refused to rule out the possibility of setting up a clash with UFC superstar Jones at 205 pounds.

He told Below the Belt: "I'm gonna wait until I get about, when I lose about ten more pounds, 235.

"I wanna see how my body feels and then if it feels good, then I'm going to probably make 205.

"Why? Because who is there to fight at 205?"

While Johnson is critical of the fighters at 205 pounds, he admitted that he would shed the pounds to fight with current light heavyweight champ Jones.

"We'll make it happen if I get low enough," he said.

"We'll fight at 205. That's a fight I wanted.

"I think Jon wanted that fight, too, before everything happened.

"That situation, which, it's over with, it's in the past. When we see each other there's no animosity between each other.

"We show each other love, you know what I mean? But that was a fight, that's why I went up to 205, man."

Johnson fought 'DC' twice and suffered two defeats at the hands of Jones' fierce rival, but he admitted that his heart wasn't in it and he wanted the Jones fight instead.

He explained: "That's the guy I want [Jones] and then you know, when I get my heartbroken, I have to fight 'DC,' it's not as motivating.

"The fire wasn't in me to fight 'DC' but I fought him, kind of fought him, you know what I'm saying, but it wasn't the same drive."

Jones, who remains top of the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, has been out of the octagon since his victory over Thiago Santos at UFC 239 in July.

But the 32-year-old 'Bones' has had an ongoing feud with UFC star Israel Adesanya in recent weeks.
