Alistair Overeem smashed Brock Lesnar in devastating style on his highly anticipated UFC debut.

Overeem enjoyed spells in Pride, Dream and Strikeforce before fighting in the famed Octagon. He captured the Dream and Strikeforce heavyweight titles before signing for the UFC in 2011.

He made his UFC bow against former champion Lesnar and the Dutch fighter wasted no time in dispatching him.

Overeem targeted Lesnar's body, kneeing his mid-section to gut-wrenching effect. He then landed a vicious liver kick which sent him sprawling to the canvas.

The WWE superstar squirmed in pain with Overeem securing a first-round stoppage victory after unloading a barrage of punches to his head and body.

The victory earned him a heavyweight title shot against then-champion Junior Dos Santos, but Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test which forced him out of the championship contest.

Lesnar, on the other hand, retired after the fight before returning to the promotion at UFC 200.

Overeem, meanwhile, fought Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva on his return and suffered a damaging defeat. He went on to lose to Travis Browne before returning to the win column against Frank Mir.

He then recorded a four-fight win streak from late 2014 to 2016 to earn another heavyweight title shot against Stipe Miocic, where he lost in the first round.

Overeem has since beat Mark Hunt, Fabricio Werdum, Sergei Pavlovich and Aleksei Oleinik.

He last fought in December, when he suffered a defeat to Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
