Khabib Nurmagomedov has taken aim at Conor McGregor claiming he would've been taking the 'easy fight' if he faced him over Tony Ferguson.

Khabib was set to battle with Ferguson at UFC 249 on April 18 but the coronavirus pandemic has left 'The Eagle' stranded in his native Russia.

The UFC lightweight champion spoke to ESPN about the fight potentially being cancelled and he explained his disappointment while also taking aim at someone he refers to as 'chicken'.

"I want to fight, it's why I choose this [Ferguson] fight," he explained to Brett Okamoto.

"Because this is a hard fight, because this is a legacy fight, this is like the number one fight for fans and it's the biggest fight in UFC right now.

"Of course I can choose easy fight with chicken [McGregor], but I choose the hard fight and anything can happen, I can't control this."

He also explained he could make 'five times as much money' with McGregor but he is more interested in Ferguson.

"UFC tried to make [a McGregor rematch]. I tell them, 'This guy don't deserve it. Bye-bye.' I can make with this chicken five times more money than with Tony Ferguson, and you know most people, they don't know about Tony Ferguson.

"A lot of people want to watch name versus name. This is not about skills versus skills. Very small people understand this."

Khabib also stated that he would happily fight 'El Cucuy' if he was given a location by the UFC.

"Right now, if they send me location, if I can come out from Russia and I can get to any country I'm going to fight. 100%, just give me location.

"Every day I send Dana White a message asking 'where is my location' you know, this isn't my mistake.

"There are too many questions that I cannot answer."

He went on to express that Ferguson is his 'dream fight' and that he is losing out more than anybody.

"I understand why people are upset because it's a dream fight for fans, it's also my dream fight.

"I lose money, I lose so much money and so many things.

"Nobody lose like I lose, nobody, I lose so much things."
