Dana White has admitted Conor McGregor may not fight again this year as he waits for a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor comfortably defeated Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246 last month to return to UFC in style.

The Irishman hasn't been shy in demanding a rematch with Khabib and UFC President White recently admitted McGregor will gladly wait for his opponent.

"I don't know [about a third fight with Nate Diaz being next]," the 50-year-old told BT Sport.

"He's focused on Khabib. He wants the Khabib fight.

"I do. But you never know with him. We'll see. But I have no answers for you right now about him. I mean he really just fought, do you know what I mean?

"And he's not watching Khabib and Tony to see what happens."

Khabib will finally face off with Tony Ferguson in April at UFC 249 and should he defeat Ferguson, it could open up a second fight with the 'Notorious'.

But it's likely he'll take some convincing after frequently insisting he has no interest in McGregor.

He was recently asked by TMZ if he'd fight the former 'Champ-champ' in Saudi Arabia for $100 but replied:

"Why do I need that kind of money?

"There are so many organizations," he continued. "For example, there's not only [soccer] for the blind, there's sambo and other sports.

"Let [the UFC] give it to them if they don't know what to do with the money. But giving me $100 million for me to beat up that idiot again? I don't think that's rational."

McGregor has also bizarrely called out Diego Sanchez in recent days.

Sanchez emerged victorious in a bout against Michel Pereira on Friday thanks to his opponent hitting him with an illegal knee while he was downed.

And McGregor sent out a simple tweet, which has now been deleted, to the American MMA fighter: "Conor McGregor Vs Diego Sanchez."

He also retweeted a fan's mock-up announcement for the fight to take place at UFC's event in Dublin in August.

The 'Notorious' wasted no time in undoing his retweet, but that didn't stop eagle-eyed fans from screenshotting it.
