Never change, Derrick.

Derrick Lewis is a gift to MMA.

The heavyweight challenger fights for UFC gold against Daniel Cormier this weekend in New York, and he's talking up his clash in epic style.

From having plenty of sex to revealing what he eats before fights, and it's pretty explicit.

A reporter asks Lewis: "What do you eat before fights?"

"If my wife is in town I eat her ass," he said.

Wow. Just wow. Derrick Lewis, ladies and gentleman.

If that wasn't enough, Lewis also upped his cardio input ahead of fight night which included having a lot of sex.

"I've been doing nothing but cardio. Even the sex," Lewis said via MMA Fighting

"The sex really been helping my hips. I know Cormier is a wrestler so you really got to get them hips down on him so I've been working them hips really good," he added.

Interesting theory.

It's been said that fighters shouldn't have sex before a fight though Lewis says he's busted this myth,

"Not me. Some times, a couple of times, I had sex the same day as I fought," he added.

"Just to see if that myth was right, and it wasn't right. But I was sleepy afterwards but I still had the energy though."

Is Lewis deserving of a shot at a UFC title? He certainly thinks so whilst refusing to call himself a mixed-martial-artist.

"Of course they would say that [I don't deserve it], I guess just because my fighting style. Everyone else is a mixed martial artist.

"I'm not a mixed martial artist, I'm a brawler. Basically, I guess they just thinking I've been winning my fights just by luck. I just think I've been winning my fights on heart."

Cormier vs. Lewis headlines UFC 230 from Madison Square Garden in New York on November 3rd.
