Derrick Lewis has already beaten Daniel Cormier. Albeit on the punch machine.

Cormier set the record at a cool 966 but Lewis came along and narrowly beat the UFC heavyweight champion, scoring 967.

Here's the heavyweight contender breaking Cormier's record:

Lewis became an instant hero following his UFC 229 heroics. He stopped Alexander Volkov in dramatic fashion, securing a knockout victory with just 11 seconds left on the clock.

But it was his post-match interview which got everyone talking.

Moments after beating the Russian fighter, Lewis whipped off his shorts in hilarious scenes.

Joe Rogan then asked Lewis: "I'm here with the winner, Derrick Lewis. Derrick, why'd you take your pants off?"

Lewis, in his boxers, said: "My balls was hot."

"I understand," Rogan replied.

Meanwhile, Lewis is riding a three-fight win streak heading into his UFC 230 championship main-event bout against Cormier.

And he's not fussed about the lack of credit for his work inside the Octagon.

"I don't care if they give me credit or not. I don't care. I'm not a mixed martial artist," Lewis said.

The Houston-based fighter added: "That's probably what they looking at. And I don't blame them. I don't train like a mixed martial artist.

"I don't respect the sport like everyone else does. I'm just a brawler. I go in to fight just to fight. I don't care about submissions, the technique and all of that.

"Bowing and showing respect - I don't give nothing about none of that. I'm just coming in and fighting."

Cormier vs. Lewis tops UFC 230 from Madison Square Garden in New York on November 3rd.
