Dana White States That He Doesn't Want To See Chuck Liddell Fight Again

Liddell was one of UFC's biggest stars in the promotion's formative years.

Dana White has stated that he hopes former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell does not return to MMA.

Liddell retired from the UFC back in 2010 after a three fight losing streak and his record at retirement was 17-7.

'The Iceman' did come out of retirement in 2018 to fight for Golden Boy MMA Promotion against longtime rival Tito Ortiz.

When asked what he thought about it by TMZ Sports, UFC head honcho Dana White showed his displeasure at Liddell's return and the claims that he could fight more in the future.

"Listen, Chuck is a very, very smart guy," White stated.

"The worst thing about Tito is Tito's one of those guys that thinks he's smart but he's not and those are the most dangerous type of guys."

He also revealed that he made attempts to lure the MMA rivals out of that trilogy fight.

"Chuck is actually a smart guy and I tried to talk both of them out of this De La Hoya fight, told them that this De La Hoya thing was bad."

"Chuck, I tried to talk out of the fight period. Chuck Liddell is (almost) 50 years old and should not be fighting."

"He's a grown man and he can do whatever he wants to do but let me tell you what, the commission that sanctions that fight, wow."

Before becoming UFC President, White worked as Liddell's manager.

Liddell did not fare well in the fight against Ortiz in 2018 and suffered a brutal first round knockout loss.

It was a farcry from the Liddell of yesteryear who beat Ortiz the two previous times they met.

One of those wins included a defence of his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

White did follow up with his criticisms by discussing the friendship he has with the 49-year-old.

"He's one of the best human beings you can ever meet, he's one of the greatest guys I've ever worked with in the fight game, I love him, I respect him, and the crazy thing is, all the reasons that we love Chuck Liddell are the same reasons he wants to fight."

"To his core he is a fighter, it's what he loves to do, but that third fight should have never happened."
