Both McGregor and Poirier agreed to an exhibition contest to take place in Ireland on December 12.
Now, White plans to book them against each other inside the Octagon.
The UFC boss told Barstool Sports' Robbie Fox that he has offered McGregor the fight against Poirier, who took to social media to accept the showdown.
"We offered Dustin [Poirier] and Conor [McGregor] a fight, so we're waiting to hear back from both of then," he said.

On Twitter, 'The Diamond' wrote: "I accept."
McGregor and Poirier first fought at featherweight at UFC 178 in September 2014 with 'The Notorious' securing a first-round victory.
Meanwhile, McGregor hasn't fought since his triumphant UFC comeback in January when he destroyed Donald Cerrone in 40-seconds.

Poirier, on the other hand, last fought in June when he outpointed Dan Hooker in a 'Fight of the Year' contender.
