Conor McGregor could make a sensational return to the UFC by the end of the year.

Of course, 'The Notorious' hasn't fought since his submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 at UFC 229.

He's took to social media to tease his return with several cryptic posts on Twitter, and his teammate has now claimed that he could return this year.

"[A fight by the end of the year] is realistic," said Peter Queally, who trains with McGregor at Straight Blast Gym (SBG) in Dublin.

"He's been struggling a little bit with a hand injury, which has been well documented in the media, so it's hard to tell, but it's definitely realistic that he will fight by the end of the year.

"If he wants to fight by the end of the year, he will fight by the end of the year," the Bellator fighter added.

Another source close to SBG doubled down on Queally's remarks.

"There was suggestion Conor might never fight again. That looked a real possibility with at all he has going on outside the Octagon at the minute," the source said.

"But that has slowly changed recently and Conor is now hellbent on fighting again before the end of the year."

McGregor's reportedly eyeing up a rematch with Khabib, a trilogy bout versus Nate Diaz as well as a mouth-watering clash against Tony Ferguson.
