Bellator star Michael Chandler has called for a showdown against Conor McGregor as he enters free agency with a potential UFC switch looming.

Chandler brutally stopped former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson in his final fight on his Bellator contract.

He took just two minutes and nine seconds of the first round to defeat Henderson at Bellator 243.

The dangerous lightweight has made it clear that he will test his value on the open market with a move to the UFC on the cards.

And ahead of a potential transfer to the leading MMA promotion, Chandler says he'd make McGregor "see Jesus" and believes he'll "finish" him in under two rounds.

Speaking after his dominant victory on Friday, he said: "From the business side of things, we're gonna make the best decision possible.

"It's certain I wouldn't be who I am or where I am without Bellator and how well they've taken care of me. But my phone's on, we have an exclusive negotiating period like every contract."

He added: "The future's bright, my phone is open. It's gonna be interesting couple of weeks. Every single lightweight is on notice now. Every lightweight in the top 10 is on the clock. I'm a guy who's been on the outside of this sport looking in, scheming, plotting his next big move. We'll see what happens.

"In the very beginning I said I don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, but he's better than everyone thinks he is. But that's testament to his self belief. If all of us had more self-belief, we would look at life differently.

"As far as that fight goes, I finish Conor in under two [rounds]. Shades of [Nate] Diaz 1, hit him with hard shots, take every single one of his. He's got that sneaky strong, thick left hand he throws and it's straight. Avoid that, wear him down a little bit, make him see Jesus, put him out."

Three-time Bellator lightweight champion Chandler, 34, holds notable victories over former UFC lightweight title holder Eddie Alvarez, Patricky Freire and the aforementioned Henderson.

The Florida-based man is one of the best fighters outside of the UFC and he could finally test himself against the sport's elite if he secures a deal.

McGregor, meanwhile, walked away from the UFC in June but a comeback has been mooted.
