Conor McGregor is a man who knows how to make sure attention is on him and despite a brilliant World Cup final the UFC fighter managed to cause controversy by posing with Russia president Vladimir Putin at the final.

Russia didn't exactly go into the World Cup with a good reputation. Fears of homophobia, racism and hooliganism forcing people to question whether they really wanted to go, along with being a country of questionably politics.

But the whole thing generally went off without a hitch and even Vladimir Putin managed to not sully the whole thing, not turning up at any Russia games and demanding to get on in the 65th minute seemed like somewhat of a surprise.

The Russian president was of course at the final and managed to be the only dignitary with an umbrella when the rain started to bucket it down at the trophy ceremony.

Tomorrow Putin is set to meet with Donald Trump, after the American president's visit to the UK for a meeting with the Queen and a golfing holiday, but after the final he met with an even more controversial character Conor McGregor:

Of course as usual with McGregor there's definitely a specific reason for him posting what he did and it's likely to be to bait a potentially future opponent in Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Russian was at the match but it looks like he wasn't a guest of the country's president and there's no doubt the Notorious was using that fact to win him up.
