George St-Pierre has responded to Khabib Nurmagomedov after the UFC lightweight champion called for the three time UFC champion to delay his retirement and fight him somewhere.

If you put together a list of the all time greatest pound-for-pound UFC fighters there's a very good chance the George St-Pierre would be very near the top, if he was top then you'd struggle to really argue about it.

The Canadian is a three time UFC champion having won the welterweight title on two occasions and the middleweight title on his return to the octagon against Michael Bisping in November 2017.

GSP hasn't fought since his middleweight debut brought gold and on Wednesday it was reported that he is due to hold a press conference on Thursday to announce his retirement, for the second time.

Step forward Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Russian, who is lightweight champion, posted on Instagram asking for the 37 year old to reconsider, posting, "Let's do it in November.

"After this fight you can retire. I grow up on your fights, and have nothing but respect for you, and I believe showed that to you George when you were in Moscow.

"But, it would be honor for me to share Octagon with one of the greatest fighters of all time. Let's do it 155 lbs, or I give away 5lbs to you, cause you newer done 155."

UFC journalist Ariel Helwani reported that he spoke to GSP after Khabib posted and the UFC legend responded to the 'call out:'

It looks likely that GSP will be hanging up his gloves tomorrow and that we won't be seeing what would have been an intriguing match up.

Khabib is still suspended until May, due to the fracas after his fight with Conor McGregor, but it's believed he won't fight until the one year suspensions given to two of his teammates, for the same incident, are over.
