Jake Paul has had his say on Conor McGregor's altercation with rapper Machine Gun Kelly earlier this week.

According to The Independent, Paul claims that McGregor started the scrap in order to make a scene and generate some media attention.

The 24 year old also told ESPN that he thinks the UFC fighter's actions may have been because he and Machine Gun Kelly look alike, as they are both a 'little bit tall' and have blonde hair.

This is not the first time Paul has had something to say about the Irishman. Responding to rumours that a boxing match between the two may be just around the corner, Paul, who recently defeated Tyron Woodley in his home city of Cleveland, said McGregor would have no chance against him in the ring.

"These MMA guys go to practice every day and have to spend their whole day on one thing- elbows, knees, grappling, take downs so there's a lot they have to work on," he told BT Sport Boxing. "But I've been going into the gym for the past three years and all I've been focusing on is boxing, so come over into my arena and you're going to get your a** beat.

Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor will happen. People think that's crazy and Jake's going to get his a** kicked but we'll see."

Conversely, McGregor doesn't appear as keen on the bout, telling journalists he doesn't care about Paul's achievements in boxing so far.

The 33 year old's scrap with Machine Gun Kelly at Monday night's MTV's Video Music Awards has made headlines all over the world.

Whilst the rapper was unwilling to discuss the incident on the red carpet that night, McGregor had plenty to say.

"I don't know the guy," McGregor said when asked by Entertainment Tonight. "He showed up and I don't know. Nothing's happened with me. I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight, you know what I mean? I certainly don't fight little vanilla boy rappers.

I don't even know the guy. I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."
