Fantasy Football Gameweek 29 Preview: No Kane Or Ibrahimovic

Expect the points from midfield this week.

Looking ahead to Fantasy Football Gameweek 29, FantasyYIRMA.com have frisked the fixtures to try and make sense of where the points are going to come from in this week's games.

One of my unwritten fantasy rules is not to make early transfers for fear of injuries in mid-week games. Ladies and Gents, I broke that rule not once but twice this week and as such feel I've let both you, myself, FantasyYIRMA.com and to a lesser extent TheOddsBible who already have low expectations from me. I have to live with my mistake. You can learn from it.

Picture the scene...it was a beautiful summer afternoon1, as I watched the Premier League in my local pub. Pint in one hand, pork scratchings the other2, I was surrounded by scantily clad women3, bringing me free beer4, watching the finest football in the land5.

1 - Rainy day in March, 2 - That part is true, 3- No women would want to drink in my local, 4- HAHAHAHAHA no chance, 5 - It was Hull vs Swansea. I lied

Hyped up Swansea City forward Fernando Llorente was taken off at half time after doing precisely jack all at Hull with an injury knock and I immediately thought... "F*** this for a game of darts, I'm bringing Harry Kane in." Great form, great fixtures - what could possibly go wrong? Well he mangled his ankle against Millwall in the FA Cup, is now out for roughly 6 weeks and I've had shell out on a 4 point hit just to get rid of him.

What I did do however was get rid of Kane for the 2015/16 version of Jamie Vardy who apparently has decided to reappear at Leicester since the departure of Claudio Ranieri.

(I then proceeded to forget that Leicester had a Champions League match mid-week and had a brown trouser moment when I remembered that after Kane, I had bought in Vardy potentially too early also.. he was fine...everything will be fine...)

He's had a taste for both goals and assists in recent weeks and his next 3 league fixtures against West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland mean the potential for points are there for Vardy if he can recapture some of the form that sparked nonsense about Hollywood making a bloody movie about him?!

And again, he's not Harry Kane - so there's that!

In midfield there's a shed load of good options at your disposal. Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson is one I like to bang on about and with good reason. Seven consecutive attacking returns now in his past seven league games makes him a must have.

Bournemouth's Josh King is a complete bargain basement buy and despite royally cursing him for a penalty miss last week, he did proceed to bag a hat-trick afterwards so it's all good. More than 120,000 have brought him in this week already and if he does have another big game expect his ownership to continue to rise.

The aforementioned Harry Kane is no doubt sitting on his backside playing FIFA17 this weekend with his ankle strapped up which means that there is a lot of talk about Heung-Min Son coming into the Spurs set up as the focus points for replacing goals. At 6.8m he's a solid cheaper option than Erikssen or Dele Alli and worth a punt.

However, Middlesbrough are starting to look like the task of staying in the Premier League is beyond them and they face Manchester United this weekend. Even the decision to get rid of manager Aitor Karanka doesn't feel like it will be enough. Karanka by the way genuinely seems like a lovely man and I'm basing this on the fact that he had his own twitter account and used to tweet out in English and Spanish for the legions of Madrid based Boro fans presumably.

United even without Zlatan look too good for Boro this weekend and it's Juan Mata who I think will benefit. He has impressed this season and with Zlatan and Rooney ruled out he is needed to step up and perform as one of the Senior players in the squad. Many thought he would be first out the door at Old Trafford when Mourinho arrived but he's still there and is needed now!

He also takes a cracking face swap selfie with Ander Herrera, so there's that!

Finally in defence I've gone for a man who has already played for Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool and is currently experiencing a surreal loan experience at Crystal Palace where he's surrounded by an incomprehensible Sam Allardyce, the legend that is Mathieu Flamini in the dressing room and the only Premier League team with a set of Cheerleaders - True Story - check out @Crystals_CPFC (Sa-weeet)

Mamadou Sakho has performed well in the Palace defence and it genuinely seems that he is relishing the fight, the game time, the cheerleaders. Regardless of what it is- Sahko is doing what Sahko needs to - playing football. He is even picking up fantasy bonus points and long may that continue.

Big Sam has brought in defensive reinforcements at Palace and consecutive clean sheets point to a significant improvement. Patrick van Aanholt and Luka Milivojevic in addition to Sakho have given them a new look and although PVA is out for this week with injury I still think a clean sheet at home to Watford is a possibility.

He once spooked the shit out of Blaise Matuidi whilst on a motorcycle in Paris...So there's that!
