Michael Van Gerwen will head into the World Darts Championship at the biggest price he's been for over three years with Ladbrokes.

After missing out on the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals trophy last weekend, MVG's odds of winning the Worlds have taken a knock (6/4).

Daryl Gurney beat Van Gerwen 11-9 in the final on Sunday scooping a nice £460,000 as he came from 9-8 behind to win three straight legs.

That means you'd have to go back to 2015's Grand Slam of Darts to find the Dutchman priced bigger pre-tournament.

The Championship starts on December 13 and runs until January 1 and world number one Van Gerwen will go up against Alan Tabern or Raymond Smith in his first match.

While, current champion Rob Cross is 22/1 to retain his title, the Voltage will face either Jeffrey de Zwaan (66/1) or Nitin Kumar in his first match.

Gary Anderson (3/1), who has won the Championship twice, will go up against the winner of Paul Nicholson vs Kevin Burness and world number two Peter Wright (9/1) will go head-to-head with Toni Alcinas or Craig Ross.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "The gap between Mighty Mike and the chasing pack is closing with every tournament and having missed out on another title last weekend, it's no surprise to see the Dutchman's Ally Pally odds on the drift."
