Sol Campbell could soon find himself managing England, according to the bookies.

The former Arsenal defender will take over at Macclesfield, who are 1/4 to be relegated to the National League, but Ladbrokes latest odds suggest it's a stepping stone for bigger things.

The 44-year-old is set to unveiled to the media by Macclesfield Town at 15:30 on Thursday (29th November).

And he faces a though task as the Silk Men are at the very bottom of the Football League, seven points from safety.

Campbell was recently helping out with the England Under-21s as part of the Football Association's 'In Pursuit of Progress' initiative, which gives BAME coaches the opportunity to work with England Teams, before accepting the Macclesfield job.

Meanwhile, the bookies make the ex-Tottenham centre-half just a 25/1 shot to manage England at some point in his career, while 16/1 says he manages Arsenal.

Campbell spent nearly a decade at Spurs before switching to their North London rivals, where he spent a further five years winning two Premier Leagues and two FA Cup's.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "It's a huge ask for 'one of the greatest minds in football', but if Sol Campbell can keep Macc in the Football League, he might just land himself a dream job further down the line."
