Cristiano Ronaldo is the strong odds-on favourite to win Best FIFA Men's Player tonight

The Juventus ace is the 1/2 clear favourite with the bookies ahead of World Cup finalist Luka Modric (2/1), while Liverpool's Mo Salah is way back at 7/1.

Ronaldo is hoping to land his third consecutive Best FIFA Men's Player award tonight, however, the Portuguese superstar will not be making an appearance at the award ceremony tonight at the Royal Festival Hall, on London's Southbank due to Juventus' congested fixture list, according to Marca.

Cristiano scored his third goal in the Serie A for the Old Lady last night as they beat Frosinone 2-0 away from home. The Italian giants are in action once again on Wednesday night as they take on Bologna at the Juventus Stadium, hence why the five-time Ballon d'Or winner won't be attending the awards ceremony.

Luka Modric picked up the Golden Ball award at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as he captained Croatia to the final, scoring two goals and picking up an assist along the way. The midfield maestro also won his third successive UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid last season.

Mo Salah banged in goals for fun during Liverpool's incredible season last campaign, scoring 32 goals in 36 Premier League games, while he got a further 11 in Liverpool's route to the Champions League final.

However, the Egyptian picked up a shoulder injury following a collision with Sergio Ramos in the final and carried the knock into the World Cup, but still managed two in two as Egypt crashed out in the group stages. Despite his slow start to the season, the 'Egyptian King' isn't a bad shout at 7/1 considering the year he's had.

Arguably, Lionel Messi's snub is the most surprising thing about the shortlist for the Best FIFA Men's Player award. He scored more goals than both Ronaldo and Salah last season and also led Barcelona to La Liga and Copa del Rey success. However, it was probably the Argentine's failures in the Champions League and World Cup that saw him get snubbed.

Messi is still widely-tipped to make the FIFAPro World XI despite not making the final three for the main award of the night.
