We fancy Jinder Mahal to retain his WWE title...

This coming weekend the WWE heads to St Louis, Missouri, for the SmackDown branded PPV Money In The Bank (MITB). For those unfamiliar with the format of the show, it ultimately centers around a ladder match (or in this case two matches) with the prize being a briefcase containing a contract for a WWE Championship match.

It hasn't been unknown for the winner of the MITB match to look to cash in this contract on the very same evening as Dean Ambrose did so successfully last year. Certain bookies are taking odds of 5/1 for the briefcase to be cashed in on Sunday evening which wouldn't be the worst bet to make if you are looking to make a few quid.

So hopefully the above gives you enough background on the event and the stipulations which could potentially arise so now sit back, relax and let our resident Wrestling expert Tony take you through what we expect to happen on Sunday night;

Money In The Bank Ladder Match for WWE SmackDown Women's Championship match contract

Becky Lynch Vs Charlotte Flair Vs Natalya Vs Tamina Vs Carmella

This match will be the first time that we get to see an all-Women's MITB match with the winner able to cash in for a shot at the Women's SmackDown Title. Given my predictions for the Women's Title match I can only see a heel winning in this match and I am leaning towards Carmella for a win.

I feel as though there is some substance to having James Ellsworth carrying the case around for Carmella as she sneaks around looking for an opportune time to cash in. Becky Lynch and Charlotte are too strong in my opinion and don't really need to win the MITB to prove their worth to the division whereas either Carmella or Tamina could gain some traction with a win.

But I am backing Carmella in this one for the reasons already stated and look forward to seeing if she can raise the bar when she takes the opportunity at trying to claim the Title. The bookies are in agreement with odds of 8/15 for Carmella, Becky Lynch at 7/2, Charlotte Flair at 5/1, Natalya at 10/1 and Tamina at 12/1 which could be a great outside bet if you have any spare coins on your betting account.

Money In The Bank Ladder Match for WWE Championship match contract

Kevin Owens Vs AJ Styles Vs Baron Corbin Vs Shinsuke Nakamura Vs Dolph Ziggler Vs Sami Zayn

Now this one is really up in the air for me and probably one of the hardest matches to predict an outcome for, for some time. That being said I am 99.9999% sure we can discredit Dolph Ziggler from winning so that leaves us with five potentials winners. I would also be surprised if Kevin Owens won, given that he is the current US Champion so we are now down to four.

AJ Styles is arguably the best worker on the planet at the moment and can be slotted into the headline match at any time, putting the MITB briefcase on him therefore seems a little pointless. That leaves us (or me) with having to pick between Nakamura, Zayn or Corbin.

My heart says Nakamura but my brain says Corbin as I really think that they see some credit in Corbin as a future World Title contender, he has the size, looks, ability and can hold his own on the microphone. That being said, Nakamura has been built up as this elusive figure who is offering something different to what we have ever seen before and given his background I really want to see him with the WWE World Title around his waist.

But put a gun to my head and I would say Baron Corbin will do the business on Sunday night and the bookies tend to agree with him at odds of 1/2 at the moment. Sami Zayn is just behind at 5/1, Nakamura is at 11/2, Styles & Owens are at 6/1 and poor old Dolph Ziggler is way out there at 18/1.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

The Usos (c) Vs The New Day

This will be the first time we get to see these two teams clash since the New Day joined the SmackDown roster. The Usos have definitely stepped up since claiming the Titles and I think we have seen some of their best work in the last few months against the team of Breezango, both from their in-ring work but probably more so on their promos.

The new rivalry with the New Day should be refreshing for them and give them the opportunity to work with one of the most prolific high profile teams on the WWE roster which they deserve in my opinion. Given that I think that this rivalry will go on for some time, I would find it odd to see a Title change this early on.

So I am picking The Usos to retain and am definitely looking forward to seeing what is planned down the line for these two teams. The odds are the same for both of these teams at 5/6 but I am not predicting a change in Title on Sunday night.

WWE SmackDown Women's Championship Match

Naomi (c) Vs Lana

So the question in this one is whether or not Lana can join the likes of Paige and Gail Kim in picking up a WWE Title on her debut. The difference between those ladies is that Paige and Kim were both established in-ring names prior to joining the WWE and so their wins were not as shocking as this one would be.

Lana has been working a few house shows and wrestling a little on NXT but it would be criminal to see her win the Title in her debut on the main card. I like the fact that she is committed to working on her in-ring ability and do genuinely think down the line she will be a good addition to the women's roster, but it's too much too soon for me.

Naomi should be walking out of Missouri as the Champ, anything less would be a discredit to the Women's Title. Naomi is the favourite with the bookies at 1/4 whereas Lana is sitting at 5/2 at the moment.

WWE Championship Match

Jinder Mahal (c) Vs Randy Orton

Now I don't think I am alone in saying that I absolutely didn't see Mahal defeating Orton back at Backlash to become the World Champion. Whilst the result shocked the Wrestling world, I definitely feel that Mahal has made the best of the situation and has really run with the baton since becoming Champ.

Switching the Title back to Orton at this stage would seem crazy after the interest (good/bad) that putting the Belt on Mahal has generated.

I also genuinely believe that Mahal has much more to offer to the Title picture than Orton does and is a very good genuine heel character who will rub people up the wrong way. Eventually I see Cena dethroning Mahal when he returns, but up until that point I think Jinder Mahal will remain Champion. Jinder is also the bookies favourite at 1/3 compared to Orton at 2/1.
