Laurent Blanc has emerged as the hot odds-on favourite to get the Manchester United job on a permanent basis, according to odds from www.SportNation.Bet.
The bookies had originally installed Zinedine Zidane as favourite, but in a fast moving market he was ousted at the top of the list by Michael Carrick, swiftly before the former midfielder was also ruled out of the running allowing Blanc to surge into contention with his odds collapsing to 10/11, having been 25/1 at the start of the day.

Another contender quickly rising up the ranks is former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who is now the 5/1 3rd favourite, despite being a 33/1 outsider when news first broke.
Of the current Premier League gaffers quoted, Eddie Howe is deemed the most likely to be poached at 12/1, just ahead of Mauricio Pochettino at 14/1, while Arsene Wenger isn't entirely ruled out at 22/1, just ahead of 33/1 shot Marco Bielsa, currently in charge at high-flying Leeds United.
In terms of outsiders, David Moyes, who would still technically be in contract at Old Trafford based on his first appointment is 150/1, with fierce rivals Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola (both 100/1) also amongst the long shots, in front of Neil Warnock at 200/1.
The bookies are now also taking bets on United's final finishing position this season and 6th place looks to be the limit at 4/7, with a top 4 berth dismissed at 16/1.

Georgia Wilson of SportNation.Bet said: "The next United manager market has been moving every second and we've already gone through 3 favourites this morning. Zidane and Carrick have quickly fallen by the wayside and if the latest surge of money is correct, United will be starting again with a Blanc canvas sooner rather than later."
She added: "The betting suggests whoever takes over immediately as a real job on their hands to do any better than come 6th this season."
