Fantasy Football Preview: Gameweek 22

Arsenal up top, Boro at the back...

We have steamrolled past the half way point of the season already and in fairness the current Premier League season has flown by.

Looking ahead to Fantasy Football Gameweek 22, we've frisked the fixtures to try and make sense of where the points are going to come from in this week's games.

Liverpool have been good value to watch this season as a neutral but they can be an absolute ball ache to try and navigate, from a fantasy football perspective. Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Mané and Milner have all staked a claim for squad selection this season but picking the right one for the right week is far from straight forward.

Mané has made it slightly easier by heading off to the AFCON and to answer a twitter question on @FantasyYIRMA from earlier in the week - No you do not get any FPL points for Mané scoring a penalty after 10 minutes for Senegal in their 2-0 victory over Tunisia.

Milner has impressed this year deputising at left back - but more importantly banging in the penalties - with all 6 of his goals this season coming from the spot. A cheaper option which will enable you to spend more elsewhere given he's a more budget orientated pick. Will be interesting to see if Milner is classed as a defender next year...

Firmino is frustrating at times - no doubt. However with Coutinho and Lallana having the highest ownership of those mentioned - It's Bobby Firmino I'm leaning towards. With Coutinho back from injury now it should allow Firmino to push forward more and hopefully start converting more of his chances.

In addition - they're playing Swansea...so there's that.

Defensively, Middlesbrough have been a bit of a surprise package this season and incredibly only Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United have conceded less league goals this season.

The fact that they struggle up front is irrelevant to the inkling of a point I'm trying to make - bottom line is that the Boro defenders offer up good value if you are trying to shoehorn in one of the higher value players further up the pitch.

If you haven't already got a Boro defender then look no further than your friend, my friend, George Friend.

George has a lot going for him. Sub £4.5m, 2 Assists already this season, a decent cross, and of course the aforementioned clean sheet potential.

In addition - he's got lovely hair...so there's that.

Final game selection from me and it's Arsenal vs Burnley on Sunday. Now this isn't so much that I think Arsenal will roll Burnley over this weekend (Although I do)...it's actually more to do with the fact that the Sean Dyche Army is absolute dog **** away from home.

Let me put this in perspective. I'll even go a bit further and provide you with something that vaguely resembles statistical analysis...

Burnley are good at home. Let me rephrase that, Burnley are Champions League contenders at home so far this season sitting 3rd in the Premier League based on Home points only.

However, take them away from the home comforts of Turf Moor and they seem to fall apart, sitting rock bottom of the league based on away points this season. In 9 away games they've managed 1 point scoring 3 and conceding 20 in the process.

Sanchez
Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez took a major huff last week when subbed off against Swansea. At 4-0 up Wenger was probably justified in taking him off when the game was sewn up but Sanchez is the guy that would turn up for a match with a broken leg saying "Good to go, Boss" and it's his appetite to keep scoring that will no doubt give him and his increasingly famous Labrador a scent for goals as he continues his pursuit for the Golden Boot.

In addition - I'd pick Bendtner in this fixture if he still played for Arsenal..So there's that.
