Croatia v Spain: Betting Preview

We preview tonight's Group D climax between Croatia and Spain.

In the final game in Group D, reigning Champions, Spain face the group's 2nd placed side and (for me) the tournament's surprise package so far; Croatia in Bordeaux.

Spain are already guaranteed qualification after earning victories in their opening two games, so avoiding defeat will be enough to see them through as the top ranked side. It would have been much closer had Croatia not conceded a last minute penalty against the Czechs after crowd trouble caused their game to be delayed.

Defeat for the Croatians today puts them in a perilous position though, as a win for the Czech Republic sends the group to a tiebreaker in which a 2 goal-swing would see the Vaterni finish 3rd. Croatia can also finish top of the group though, with the only stipulation being a victory over the Spanish in Bordeaux.

With that in mind, I can't imagine the Spanish over committing themselves in this game safe in the knowledge that a draw takes them through top; whilst Croatia only need a draw to guarantee qualification so I'm taking the points to be shared at 19/10.
