Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Schalke over the potential transfer of Bosnian International defender Sead Kolasinac and may be able to sign him on Deadline Day.

The left-back's only got six months left at Die Königsblauen and the German's may look to cash in whilst they can as it's widely known that Antonio Conte is in the market for a defender.

Branislav Ivanovic's free transfer to Zenit St Petersburg is all but done with personal terms reportedly agreed, whilst The Blues are also likely to allow John Terry to leave in the Summer at the latest.

Schalke are likely to want to get the deal, said to be in the region of £5m, over the line before the end of the January window to avoid losing the left-back for free in June. This is because Chelsea could potentially agree a pre-contract deal for Kolasinac, allowing him to make the move to London for free on a Bosman once his contract expires.

The news comes as somewhat of a shock as it looked as though Juventus had the deal all but completed. However, disagreements from the Old Lady regarding his price had seen talks stall. Chelsea aren't the only club in for the International defender though, with Juve's failure to complete the deal peaking the interests of reigning Europa League winners Sevilla.

The deal is unlikely to be completed before Chelsea's crucial game with Liverpool tomorrow night, where they're 15/8 to extend their ten point cushion over Jürgen Klopp's men to 13.

Chelsea are currently 2/5 favourites to win the Premier League having opened up an eight point gap over second-placed Arsenal. Meanwhile Schalke are comfortably mid-table in the Bundesliga; sitting six points above relegation but nine points off European qualification.
