Chelsea are leading the race for Inter Milan centre-half Milan Skriniar as they look to strength their back line, according to Italian news organisation Calciomercato.

Skriniar joined Inter at the start of last season for £20million from Sampdoria and impressed in his debut season.

Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the 23-year-old, however, Chelsea are prepared to pay a whopping 80million Euros for the centre-back.

Even though Skriniar has started all 14 of Inter's games this season it is also understood that they wouldn't reject a bid of that magnitude if the Blues were to offer the massive figure of 80m.

Chelsea are keen to recruit the centre-back as they look set to lose two experienced defenders in the summer with Gary Cahill and David Luiz both out of contract.

Cahill reportedly wants a loan in January after receiving just 21 minutes in the league so far this season, while Luiz's contract at Stamford Bridge might not be renewed due to him already being 31-years-old.

Andreas Christensen might also look for a move away from West London in the upcoming window as he is yet to get any minutes in the Premier League this season.

AC Milan are said to be interested in Cahill, Christensen and out-of-favour Cesc Fabregas and have reportedly contacted Chelsea in regard to all three players.

Meanwhile, Skriniar's Inter travel to Wembley on Wednesday as they go head-to-head in a crucial Champions League game against Tottenham.

A win for the Italians (16/5) would knock Spurs of the competition, while a draw would also go in the San Siro sides favour (13/5).

Mauricio Pochettino's side blew a 1-0 lead late on when they travelled to Milan in the reverse leg as Inter ended up winning 2-1, however, they 5/6 to pick up the three points this time.
