This would be incredible...

Ladbrokes have closed the book on James Rodriguez joining Manchester United this morning.

The Colombian had been as short as 1/10 to join the Red Devils with the bookies, and now they've suspended betting with the deal considered as good as done.

Ladbrokes News' Dave Burin said: "Rodriguez joining United looks like a certainty, so all we're waiting for now is the sight of the midfield maestro posing with the famous red shirt."

The Colombian joined Real Madrid in the Summer of 2014 after a scintillating World Cup performance, but has failed to replicate them in a Los Blancos shirt.

Playing second fiddle to the infamous B-B-C, Rodriguez has been short of starting opportunities since his €80 million move from Monaco.

The 25-year-old has 8 goals and 6 assists in La Liga this season but has failed to develop in to the star Real Madrid had hoped.

It is thought Manchester United could announce his arrival as early as Sunday, with SkyBet also suspending betting on the move.

They may have lost 4-0 at home to Liverpool yesterday, but there could be some good news on the horizon for West Ham fans if the bookies are to be believed.

The Irons are 7/4 favourites to snap up Dries Mertens, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Belgian hotshot, who has 30 goals and 10 assists in just 32 starts for Napoli this term, is thought to be available for around £20 million this summer.

Despite scoring and providing two assists in their 5-0 demolition of Joe Hart's Torino side yesterday, the 30-year-old is yet to extend his contract with the Serie A side.

His current deal runs until June 2018, so West Ham could be in for a bargain if they swoop to acquire his services.
