Andy Murray Is Being Avoided By Punters Ahead Of Wimbledon

Odds of Murray winning for a third time have drifted considerably

Andy Murray has withdrawn from an exhibition match against Lucas Pouille with the start of Wimbledon just six days away and this, coupled with his poor showing at Queens, has seen him remain largely unbacked by punters at William Hill.

The odds of the current number one lifting the Wimbledon trophy for the third time have drifted considerably since he was 5/2 joint favourite just three weeks ago.

Federer, with whom Murray shared favouritism, is the 2/1 favourite to win Wimbledon while the mammoth gamble on Rafael Nadal continues apace, with his price coming in from 7/1 on 11th June to just 9/2 now.

"Andy Murray does not come into Wimbledon in the best of form and the money has dried up for him," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

"There will inevitably be the surge of patriotic cash that comes in at the start of the tournament but for now, he remains friendless with Rafa and Roger proving to be the most popular."

Wimbledon winner:

2/1 Roger Federer;

7/2 Andy Murray;

9/2 Rafael Nadal;

6/1 Novak Djokovic;

16/1 Marin Cilic;

16/1 Milos Raonic;

20/1 BAR
