He also called the umpire a "f***ing tool" among other things.

Tennis hothead Nick Kyrgios struggled to control his temper at the Cincinnati Masters on Wednesday, smashing two rackets during a disastrous second round defeat to Karen Khachanov.

Shortly after calling chair umpire Fergus Murphy the "worst f***ing referee ever", he calmly walked off court in the third set to visit the toilet - or so we were led to believe.

Kyrgios instead destroyed two rackets in the hallway before walking out like nothing happened.

The fuming Australian returned to the action as Murphy was heard talking into his walkie-talkie, saying: "He went to the bathroom with two rackets and came back with two broken rackets."

But this wasn't the end of Kyrgios' temper tantrum.

The 27-year-old also delivered a number of insults to the umpire throughout his second round match at the Cincinnati Masters, calling him a "f***ing tool" after losing 6-7, 7-6, 6-2.

He also appeared to spit in the direction of chair umpire Murphy at the end of the match.

I mean, Kyrgios is known for his spectacular outbursts on court but this eye-catching was potentially his most outrageous yet.

The Australian was slated by many fans for his 'disgusting' behaviour.

Nick Kyrgios has since been fined $113,000 for his actions at the Cincinnati Masters.

"Following his second-round loss at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati [on] Wednesday night, Nick Kyrgios was fined $113,000." said an ATP statement.

"In addition to the on site fines announced today, the ATP is looking further into what happened during and immediately after the match to see if additional action is warranted under the Player Major Offense section of the code.

"That could result in an additional fine and/or suspension."
