Michael Phelps has been stealing the show both in and out of the pool at the Rio Olympics.

The Team USA swimming sensation has re-written the history books once again with dominance at the 2016 Games.

Fish-like Phelps, 31, claimed his latest gold medal last night in the men's 200m individual medley to take his tally to 22 golds - cementing his place further as the greatest Olympian of all time.

What's even more incredible is that it's the fourth time Phelps has won the event in succession. Which is perhaps why one fan has gone to extreme measures to pay tribute to the Olympic phenomenon. A picture has emerged online which appears to show one Phelps superfan with a tattoo of the athlete's famous death stare freshly inked on their leg.

You can check it out in the tweet below:

Phelps' killer facial expression went viral before the men's 200m butterfly final in the form of #PhelpsFace and has now been circulated in a number of meme's.

The American pulled the hilarious face in the build-up to his showdown with rival Chad Le Clos before claiming gold, while Le Clos failed to even make the podium.

It's one helluva tribute. And it's highly unlikely Phelps' Olympic feat will be surpassed any time soon.
