Olympic sport doesn't have to be about winning it can be about the joy of competing and for Kiribati's David Katoatau it was also a chance to show off his dancing skills in an attempt to make people aware of his country's problems.

Katoatau was competing in the men's 105kg weightlifting competition and was in group B no where near a medal position but he still managed to get the biggest cheers of the night, despite competing against a lifter from Brazil, due to his wonderful dance moves.

But his dancing wasn't all about joy for being in the Olympics it was also to bring the world's attention to the problem his Pacific Island is having with coastal erosion because of the extremes of climate change. The weightlifter did show off some brilliant moves:

Later the 32 year old talked about the issues facing his country saying:

"Most people don't know where Kiribati is. I want people to know more about us so I use weightlifting, and my dancing, to show the world.

"I wrote an open letter to the world last year to tell people about all the homes lost to rising sea levels. I don't know how many years it will be before it sinks.

"We don't have the resources to save ourselves. Kiribati also lacks the resources for basic sports facilities. There was no gym when I started training as a boy, and there is no gym now," said Katoatau, 32.

"I trained on the beach in the open sun. The bar would become too hot to touch so I had to train at six in the morning."

Katoatau made a name for himself when he won the Commonwealth Games title two years ago and busted out his moves then too.
