It's exactly twenty years to the day that the Big Red Machine Kane made his memorable debut in WWE.

Glenn Jacobs, the man behind the Kane character, had been seen in WWE before when he performed as the evil dentist Isaac Yankem and 'Fake Diesel' (90's wrestling was a bit weird) but his career instantly went to a new level completely when he was brought into the fold as the half-brother of The Undertaker, and made an instant impact.

Accompanied by the legendary Paul Bearer, who served as The Undertaker's manager for a number of years, Kane exploded onto the scene during the first ever Hell in a Cell match in WWE, with Taker and Shawn Michaels mixing it up for the WWF Championship at Badd Blood 1997.

The story going into the event was that Kane was burnt in a house fire, accidentally started by The Undertaker that killed his parents. Undertaker had been under the impression that, like his parents, his younger half-brother had also died in the blast but that was not the case, as Kane's pyro and eerie music hit towards the end of the pay-per-view in St Louis, Missouri.

With Vince McMahon going apeshit on commentary, the masked monster ripped of the door of the cell, hit his sibling with a devastating Tombstone Piledriver and cost him the world title match.

The Kane character, which saw a plethora of changes and repackaging in terms of appearance and personality, would go on to become one of the most iconic in professional wrestling history, winning a total of 23 championships in his glittering career in WWE, including three world titles

Kane was still going strong as an active wrestler with WWE up until this year, but hasn't been seen since December 2016 due to his campaign to run as mayor in his local area.

What a moment it was when he marched down to the ring on October 4 1997!

Kane, thanks for 20 years of setting things/wrestlers on fire, as well as countless chokeslams and Tombstone Piledrivers. He is an absolute shoo-in for a place in the WWE Hall Of Fame in the near future.
