Sky Sports 'Mute' Crowd After X-Rated Gerwyn Price Insult Leaves Viewers Stunned

Sky Sports 'Mute' Crowd After X-Rated Gerwyn Price Insult Leaves Viewers Stunned

Viewers at home couldn't believe it.

Sky Sports were forced to mute the crowd at the PDC World Darts Championship after Gerwyn Price was trolled with a very crude chant.

The Welsh player saw off Kim Huybrechts on Monday evening during an intense affair at Alexandra Palace.

Price is used to being hated by crowds, but one chant in particular saw broadcasters step in to prevent those at home hearing.

The 36-year-old was called a 'sheep sh***ing b******' inside Ally Pally, but the sound dropped out for those who were watching on TV.

Some still managed to hear it slip through however and expressed their disgust on social media.

One commented: "Sky keeps muting the crowd when they're singing 'sheep sh***ing b****** you know what you are' at Gerwyn Price."

Another added: "When did a Darts Crowd turn into an England away game?"

A third put: "The volume was obviously turned down here."

While someone else said: "In today's society how do you condone abusive chants to players?"

Price held his nerve in an intense final leg to ensure victory and keep his championship defence alive.

He said following the win: "That was tough; Kim was tough and the crowd were tough.

"It was a nip and tuck game, thankfully that double top went in at the end.

"It was one of those games you just have to get through. I'm never out until the last dart goes in, I stuck in right to the end when I was under a lot of pressure.

"When that type of game happens, I come out on top."

Tempers flared during the match, with Price and Huybrechts being separated at one point after squaring up.

Both men also engaged in excessive celebration as they attempted to rile the other up.

Price will now take on Dirk van Duijvenbode on Wednesday evening.
