Raymond Van Barneveld’s Manager May Have The Crudest Name In Sporting History, Everyone Noticed It

Raymond Van Barneveld’s Manager May Have The Crudest Name In Sporting History, Everyone Noticed It

Everyone on social media had their say.

Darts legend Raymond van Barneveld's manager, Ben de Kok, went viral during the PDC World Darts Championship last night due to his name.

Van Barneveld eased his way past Lourence Ilagan on Monday in his first World Championship appearance since 2019.

His girlfriend Julia Evans and manager were in attendance at 'Ally Pally' and Sky Sports commentator Wayne Mardle pointed them out - with one thing sticking out to fans.

"There's Barney's girlfriend and his manager... Be de Kok," Mardle explained to viewers.

We don't have to explain it do we?

The name, and what it sounds like, immediately trended on Twitter following Mardle's deadpan call.

Fans had their say on Mardle's call and they can't believe just how professional he managed to stay.

De Kok has been van Barneveld's manager since his return last year and replaced former head honcho Jaco van Bodegom.

The five-time world champion showed no sign of rust after 2019 saw him dumped out the World Championship at the first round stage.

He told Sky Sports following his return: "Its a privilege to be back. I had one goal to be back here and here it is.

"I knew Lourence is a good player [and] the game could have been all different.

"The crowd was all behind me. I can play much better, but I won and that's the main thing."

This year's tournament has already seen two competitors hit a nine-darter within a day of each other in incredible scenes.

William Borland produced the goods in Friday's dramatic win over Bradley Brooks and nobody thought it'd be topped.

However, Darius Labanauskas then went one step further by hitting Mike De Decker with his very own nine-darter.

Borland managed to make it through but Labanauskas' efforts were for naught and he was defeated.

It makes it only the third PDC to have two multiple nine-dart legs, with the first two coming in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
