A few weeks ago, WWE Hall of Fame announcer Jerry 'The King' Lawler was arrested, along with his fiancee Lauryn McBride, on charges of domestic assault. Some of the details that were leaked about the incident were pretty terrifying, including an unloaded pistol being involved at one point of the dispute. However, over the weekend the charges against Lawler were dropped and his suspension was lifted.

It is believed that Lawler will return to his usual role of providing colour commentary on SmackDown!, alongside Mauro Ranallo and could be back behind the announce table as early as Tuesday night's TV tapings. Lawler will then, brand split permitting, remain on SmackDown! when the show goes live every Tuesday, beginning with the July 19th brand split draft episode.

Lawler has been with the WWE since 1992, save for a 10 month period in 2001 when he sensationally quit the company following the release of his then wife Stacey 'The Kat' Carter. He formed a legendary partnership with fellow Hall of Famer Jim Ross during the Attitude Era and well into the mid '00s that still stands the test of time as being the finest commentary duo in wrestling history.
