WATCH: Nick Kyrgios Deliberately Throws Match At Shanghai Masters

"He is a disgrace and an embarrassment"

It looks as though Nick Kyrgios had something else on his mind other than tennis, this morning after the Australian deliberately threw his match against Mischa Zverev during the Shanghai Masters.

Kyrgios lost the match in straight sets, 6-3 6-1 but it was the manner of his defeat which was caused the most outrage, with the world number 14 refusing to put any effort into his returns or serves, sometimes walking off the court before the point was over.

Kyrgios reportedly told the Umpire to call time on the match so he could go home. Whatever has caused Kyrgios' behaviour remains to be seen, but for his sake, we hope it's just another example of him being a dick rather than anything more serious.

It is worth noting though that Kyrgios claimed to be 'bored' during his first round victory and does have previous for this sort of behaviour, as he displayed against Richard Gasquet during last year's Wimbledon.

Maybe Kyrgios is just a really big fan of Luke Wilson's 'The Baumer' in The Royal Tenenbaums? Who knows. Either way, here's hoping Kyrgios isn't in the midst of a full blown meltdown or something similarly damaging.
