The traffic stop that occurred this past Thursday has come back to bite Jon Jones even harder than the five citations he received from the police officer that evening. TMZ has reported that due to a violation of his probation stemming from that traffic stop, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has been arrested. According to their report, a judge issued a warrant for Jones' arrest for violating terms of his probation and Jones turned himself in at 10 AM Tuesday morning.

The online arrest records from Bernalillo County, New Mexico, confirm Jones was arrested by officer Conor Coleman and booked at the New Mexico Corrections Department.

Monday afternoon, the body cam footage from the officer that pulled over Jon Jones surfaced, which showed heated interactions between the officer and the fighter. The traffic stop resulted in Jones receiving five citations in total for violations of drag racing, exhibition driving, altered/modified exhaust, failure to maintain lanes, and improper display of a vehicle registration. Jones explained his side of the story to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour just minutes before the video was posted online.

When Jon Jones pled guilty to his hit-and-run accident from last April, he received a sentence of 18 months of supervised probation and community service that included 72 youth outreach appearances. Terms of the probation included Jones was to stay out of trouble and not break any laws during the 18-month period. The recent traffic stop that included a citation for drag racing was seen as a violation of the probation, resulting in the arrest this morning.

The UFC has issued the following statement regarding the incident:

"UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department this morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week. UFC has been in touch with Jones' legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information."

At the time of writing, the title fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier scheduled to headline UFC 197 on April 23, 2016, is still on. As the legal process plays out on Jones' end, that could change in the coming days.
