Frank Lampard Tries His Hand At Darts And The Results Are Disastrous

Never again, Frank...

Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Frank 'The Machine' Lampard.

You might be familiar with plain old Frank Lampard; the goal-scoring midfielder of England and Chelsea fame, but 'The Machine' is Frank's glitzy dart-playing alter-ego - but there's just one slight problem: he's terrible at darts.

Having recently announced he's leaving MLS side New York City FC, Lampard is obviously keen to keep his options open, and perhaps a complete change to a less physically taxing sport could be required as he approaches his 39th birthday.

Frank stopped by the PDC World Darts Championships on Monday to try his luck at the oche in a celebrity challenge, but as you can see in the clip below, it's clear his game needs a bit or work.

During his playing days at Stamford Bridge, few players could beat Lampard's ice-cold calmness in-front of goal, and his terrific coordination.

Sadly, it seems age catches up with us all. It turns out 'The Machine' is human, just like the rest of us.

Still, what a player he was.

Given the enormity of his success, it's no easy task whittling down Lampard's finest moments from his time with West Ham and Chelsea (we probably wouldn't fixate on his time with Manchester City and New York City FC, to be fair.)

Scoring 211 times in 648 appearances for the club, Lampard overtook Bobby Tambling as Chelsea's all time leading goal scorer, with a match winning brace against Aston Villa in May 2013. The England international, who won the majority of his 106 caps for the Three Lions during his time with the Blues, also played a significant role in the club winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, a Europa League and their first and only Champions League.
