Moto2 Driver Sacked After Grabbing Rivals' Brake At 140 Mph

Romano Fenati, the Italian Moto2 driver who reached over to rival Stefano Manzi and grabbed his break at 140mph, has been sacked by his team.

As the pair jostled for position on the straight, he went to extreme lengths to try and gain an advantage on his opponent, producing one of the most bizarre and dangerous moments going.

Many people called for him to banned from racing for life as a result of his disgraceful actions.

To the surprise of absolutely no-one, he was disqualified and given a suspension for two Grand Prixs for "irresponsible riding". But his situation has got worse as he now also finds himself without a team.

"The Marinelli Snipers Team shall terminate the contract with the rider Romano Fenati, from now on, for his unsporting, dangerous and damaging conduct for the image of all," read a statement from Marinelli Snipers.

"With extreme regret, we have to note that his irresponsible act endangered the life of another rider and can't be apologised (for) in no way."

Fenati has also issued an apology for the events of yesterday, calling it a "disgraceful gesture" and adding he was not a man.

"I apologise to the whole sports world. This morning, with a clear mind, I wish it had been just a bad dream," he said.

"I think back to those moments, I made a disgraceful gesture, I was not a man.

"The criticisms are correct and I understand the resentment towards me. I want to apologise to everyone who believed in me and all those who felt hurt by my actions."
