Michael Bisping became the first UK UFC champion after stunningly knocking out Luke Rockhold in the very first round to claim the UFC middleweight title.
Bisping has expressed his desire to make his first defense on UK soil having held encouraging talks with the UFC bosses. Talking to Sky Sports;
"They are capable of creating slots whenever the time fits. There will be a slot happening soon."
The last time the octagon made a trip to the UK was last February where Bisping himself made his long awaited England return beating Anderson Silva in a 5-round classic. A return to either London or Manchester could be on the cards now that the 37-year-old is champion, continuing to add;

"I think the fact that I'm now a UK champion, a lot more slots will open. I have had conversations with [UFC president] Dana White and [co-owner] Lorenzo Fertitta and said I'd like to fight in the UK for my first defence. Dana said 'we'll see'. Whatever that means, we don't know.
As for potential opponents, that's still being discussed with Yoel Romero and 'Jacare' the probable front runners, though the UFC could strike while the iron is hot by going with the rubber match with Rockhold.
"I'm keeping my cards close to my chest. I don't know who it will be against, I haven't got any names."
