Mo Farah's double double in the long distance track events which started four years ago and was completed on Saturday might make him the greatest athlete in Britain's history. Farah looks set to end his time on the track in front of an adoring home crowd.

The World Championships will be held at the Olympic Stadium in London next summer, now home to West Ham, and as well as a bit of a homecoming for the British track and field stars of this summer's Olympics it will also be a farewell to the sport from Usain Bolt and it looks like Farah will be joining Bolt in leaving the track.

Speaking after winning the 10 and 5km races at The Games in Rio Farah, who could be set to become Sir Mo according to reports, admitted that he will race on the track in London next year but then it's likely to be a move back to marathons:

"I want to continue to 2017 on the track and then go on the roads. I know I'm not going to be away from my family as much. I believe that I need to practise and run a couple of key marathons in terms of going on and becoming successful at the marathon. For years I've been doing track so I have the experience of that, so that's what I need to do."

The 33 year old long distance runner has so far had one go at a marathon. He took part in the London Marathon in 2014 and finished eighth which disappointed Farah at the time and led to an immediate return to the track.

Talking after yet another successful championships for him, he now has 14 golds in the 10 and 5km races in major championships, the inventor of the Mo-bot admitted that he wants to spend more time with his family and that there's still questions about whether he'll be at the next Olympics:

"As an athlete you have to be honest with yourself and do what you have to do. I do miss my kids, six months of the year. That is one of the hardest things for me really.

"You ask what more can I do? My feeling is I want to continue to Tokyo but you have to be honest with yourself. I owe it to my kids and my family, so I will take it one year at a time. Now I'm heading to the World Championships in London 2017 - I owe that to the public and the people to turn up on the track."

We all wait to see what the future holds for Farah!
