Ex-UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was seeking to snap a two-fight losing skid by taking on Tim Kennedy at UFC 205, until he was forced to pull out earlier today but even more reason to relive the New York natives highlight-reel knockout over legendary figure Chuck Liddell which still remains one of the greatest finishes in the promotions history.
The event was UFC 88. The two 205lbs contenders were vying for a shot at UFC gold. Old blood vs. new blood. In one corner; Liddell. The most recognisable fighter in the sport with his traditional Mohawk and Chinese tattoo on the side of his head, and the patented sprawl-and-brawl style which 'The Iceman' perfected. In the other; a fresh, hungry budding star rising the ranks. Evans was a TUF winner and in for the fight of his life.

Timing is so important. With two minutes left to play in the second round, Liddell was stalking Evans and attempted to throw a uppercut but the younger, quicker, fighter beautifully countered delivering a hellacious overhand right landing flush on Liddell's chin sending him to sleep, knocked unconsciously instantly, subsequently pulling of a stunning upset in the process.
And who could forget Evans' wife screaming hysterically! The victory not only was rightfully awarded with KO of the night and KO of the year but firmly established Evans' status as a legit contender and future superstar. He claimed the light-heavyweight title in his next fight defeating Forest Griffin.
