Questions Remain Over England Tour To Bangladesh As Captain Morgan Considers Backing Out

Questions Remain Over England Tour To Bangladesh As Captain Morgan Considers Backing Out

There are serious security concerns.

England's ODI captain Eoin Morgan and their opener in both short and long formats of the game Alex Hales have more questions on security in Bangladesh before making their decision on whether to tour this winter.

The ECB have had a full review of security issues in the sub-continent ahead of the October tour to Bangladesh where England are due to play three One Day Internationals and two Test matches as well as two tour games. The review came back to say they have no fears of going however players are making their own decision whether to tour or not.

All the issues come from terrorist attacks, mainly on foreign nationals, in the country including and attack in Dhaka where 29 people, 18 of them foreigners, were killed in July by militants. And according to The Times Morgan and Hales want an explanation about why Australia's tour was cancelled before deciding whether to go.

Australia pulled out of their tour to the country last autumn and the under 19s also didn't take part in the World Cup earlier this year and some of England's players feel that they haven't been given a full reason as to why the Aussies decided against touring and what information they had different to England's security team for them to back out.

Former Bangladesh coach, and seven time England ODI player, Mal Loye claimed that Australia pulled out of the tour because of a specific threat on the team but Cricket Australia denied those claims.

Selectors meet at Lord's tomorrow to decide on the touring squads however despite Alastair Cook confirming he would tour the potential loss of Morgan and Hales could be huge blows. Morgan is not in form but his captaincy has seen the England ODI side change dramatically for the better whilst Morgan recently broke Robin Smith's long lasting record of highest ODI score for England.
