CM Punk joining the UFC rank wasn't well received to say the least. Following signing with the premier MMA organisation in 2014 fans and even fighters mocked the move including Nate Diaz.

The Stockton-fighter was vocal in expressing his opinion on the acquisition of the former WWE star claiming it was "horrible for the sport" so it proved for an interesting encounter when the pair came face-to-face at UFC 200 fight week.

"UFC 200 I was doing an autograph signing and the guy I was signing the autograph for started like pointing behind me and I heard someone like yelling my name and I turned around and I was on a riser and Nate Diaz was on the ground and he was like 'hey man come here'."

But to the surprise of Punk, Diaz issued an apology for what he had said. "I was like 'what's up?' and he was the nicest fucking guy." Per Damon Martin of Fox Sports.

The 37-year-old even went into detail about their exchange as the veteran fighter had nothing but nice words for the newbie mixed-martial-artist.

"I don't know if he'll get mad and this will ruin the image of Nate Diaz, but he was like 'hey man, I talked some shit before and I don't know you and I'm sorry' and he's like, 'Gilbert (Melendez) and Ronda (Rousey) said that you're a cool dude and they love you' and I started looking around for the cameras. I was like all right. I thought that was super, super cool of him. Super nice guy."

Punk makes his anticipated MMA and UFC debut next weekend at UFC 203 when he faces 2-0 Mickey Gall.
