Is Amir Khan actually serious about transitioning from boxing to MMA? It seems to be judging by his social media.

Move over Floyd, we've got another professional boxer gunning for UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The former world champion has claimed he is willing to swap the ring for the cage for a chance to fight the Irishman.

Khan jumped on the Boxing vs. MMA bandwagon by posting a picture of him inside a octagon holding a UFC belt.

Speaking to Flo Combat, he said; "I'm a little different in that sense, where I would get into a cage and I would fight in MMA rules, so that's the difference between me and Mayweather. I would definitely give it a go. Even if I started to train MMA next year, I'd only be 30 years old. I could stop and train for a full year and become a good MMA fighter."

He would join the likes of Holly Holm and James Toney if the idea comes to fruition. The 29-year-old also more invested into the sport than some may think as he became a financial stakeholder in emerging Indian MMA promotion Super Fight League. UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has even offered his services to help the Bolton-native.

Khan is coming off the back of a brutal knockout over Saul Alvarez, though was heralded for moving up to face the bigger man. He's expected to drop down to welterweight but is a career inside the cage brewing? Either way, good luck in training!

Meanwhile, McGregor is preparing for his anticipated rematch against Nate Diaz as he looks to avenge his devastating loss at UFC 202 on August 20th.
