What's next for Conor McGregor following his defeat to Floyd Mayweather?

Well, the Irishman isn't short of options with Paulie Malignaggi, Nate Diaz, Max Holloway and Tyron Woodley, to name but a few, wanting in on the career changing 'Red Panty' night.

Another foray into the squared circle remains an option with his feud with Malignaggi blowing up after their infamous sparring session, not to mention their heated run-in during fight week.

And, obviously, he still has the UFC lightweight title to defend in the Octagon. But while the likes of Malignaggi and Diaz are attractive, and lucrative, fights, McGregor immediately received a huge call-out after last nights action.

UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov challenged McGregor by taking to social media.

The Dagestani phenom posted a picture of the pair with their arms raised, simply titled: "Let's go" while directed at the UFC and Dana White.

As well as the call-out, Nurmagomedov even included a potential date and event. He's eyeing up UFC 219 on December 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 28-year-old is left without an opponent after the promotion opted for Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee for the interim-UFC lightweight title bout.

Nurmagomedov was scheduled to fight Ferguson back at UFC 209 but was forced to withdraw because of a botched weight cut.

Though he's hoping to leapfrog Ferguson and Lee as he eyes up a bout with McGregor.

Meanwhile he's been out of action since UFC 205 last November where he mauled top contender Michael Johnson. The same card on which McGregor was crowned the UFC lightweight champion.

Prior to the Mayweather fight, White claimed McGregor asked for Nurmagomedov. What's more, in Russia, too.

"You know what Conor told me? He said, 'I want Khabib in Russia,'" White told MMA Junkie.

"Isn't he (expletive) awesome? He's like, 'I want Khabib, in Russia.' He's awesome. Conor McGregor is a (expletive) unicorn. There's nothing like him. He's working on boxing Floyd Mayweather and then he's talking about fighting Khabib in Russia right after," he added.
