You work hard for your whole life only to have the rewards taken away from you because someone else couldn't be arsed doing the hard work. Like your mate doing nothing in the group work at uni, very frustrating. And that's exactly how Usain Bolt must feel.

Last summer Bolt became the first man ever to win the treble treble when he won the 4x100m gold at the Rio Olympics. That meant that Bolt had completed the treble of 100m, 200m and 4x100m gold at the last three Olympics, Beijing, London and Rio.

However yesterday Bolt's nine gold medals became eight. The Jamaican 4x100m team from Beijing have been told to hand back their golds after team member Nesta Carter was found to have doped in 2008.

Bolt, along with teammates Michael Grater, Asafa Powell, and Carter, all have to hand over their golds, with Trinidad and Tobago getting the honours. The world's most famous athlete has spoken about his 'heartbreak' saying:

"It's heartbreaking. Over the years I've worked hard to accumulate gold medals and worked hard to be a champion.

"I'm not too pleased about the situation but it's just one of those things that happen in life. You have to be able to deal with it.

"When I have to give back my gold medal I'll give it back, it's not a problem to me."

At the time the Jamaicans ran a World Record time of 37.10 seconds but that time and the result has been taken off them with Trinidad and Tobago's Keston Bledman, Marc Burns, Emmanuel Callender and Richard Thompson now taking gold.

Two time Olympic silver medalist Roger Black said of Bolt's achievements being diminished, "Eight doesn't have the same ring - 'double treble, plus two. It will be really frustrating for him. You can only account for yourself, you cannot account for your team-mates."

Carter's sample from China was originally cleared but his, and thousands of other samples, were retested in the lead up to the Brazil Olympics, and he has been found guilty.
