'The Mountain' Hafthor Bjornsson has hinted that he could attempt a future in NFL, seven years after turning down the chance to join the Indianapolis Colts.

Bjornsson is a professional strongman and won the World's Strongest Man title in 2018 but is perhaps most famous for his time playing 'The Mountain' on Game of Thrones.

The 31-year-old and Strongman rival Eddie Hall are set to step into the boxing ring next year, after a recent social media feud last control, but Bjornsson could have his eye on American Football too.

He was linked with the Colts in 2013 and, speaking to Yahoo Sports about a potential future attempt at the sport, the Icelandic athlete said "you never know."

Asked about Colts owner Jim Irsay's tweet about signing the then 23-year-old Bjornsson revealed that talks didn't actually come close, saying, "It didn't get far. At that time, I had a dream and a goal to win the World's Strongest Man. And in my mind, if I had gone a different journey, I wouldn't have given myself fully to that journey. I'm the kind of a guy that if I go into something, I go all in."

Bjornsson did have a promising basketball career in his youth but had to retire from the sport at 20-years-old due to an ankle injury, before he moved to Strongman.

The former World's Strongest Man winner has finished in the competition's top three for the past eight years and lost out to Hall in 2017 by just one point.

The Icelander recently broke the world record for the deadlift but it has only proved to stoke his rivalry with Hall and the pair are due to fight in 2021.

British Strongman Hall has accused his rival of cheating during the competition in 2017, something that Bjornsson was very emotional about.

The claims have led him to say that he is retiring from Strongman competition. With Game of Thrones having finished last year there is a chance that he could move into NFL next.

First off he's going to have to beat his rival in the ring. Do you think Bjornsson will move into American Football?
