Ronnie O'Sullivan confirmed his place as probably the most talented snooker player of all time by being the first person to complete 1000 century breaks to win the 2019 Players Championship.

He might not be everyone's favourite but there's no doubt that Ronnie O'Sullivan is one of the best snooker players of all time.

The Englishman has won the Snooker World Championship on five occasions, is second on the list of most ranking titles won, behind only Stephen Hendry, and has scored more centuries than anyone else to play the game.

O'Sullivan's character and the fact that he doesn't always care about the sport as much as he should means that the 43 year old occasionally splits opinion, but there's no doubting his skill.

This week the Rocket has been playing in the Players Championship. In round one he beat Barry Hawkins 6-4, he won the quarter final by the same score against John Higgins, and made it through to the final with a 6-0 whitewash against Mark Allen.

Three centuries in the build up to the final against Neil Robertson put him on the brink of history and two more centuries in the first session against the Australian gave him a 7-2 lead and put him on 999 career century breaks. In the evening session Ronnie made it 9-4 without another century, leaving him needing one frame to take the title.

He brought up his second Players Championship and 1000 century in the final frame.

O'Sullivan turned professional in 1992 and has gone on to have one of the best careers of anyone in the game, although there is still a thought that he has relatively underachieved throughout.

He has five world titles to his name, with his first coming in 2001, but he hasn't won the world title since 2013 and hasn't been to the final since the year after when he lost to Mark Selby.

On top of those titles he has won seven Masters championships, more than anyone else, and has 34 ranking titles to his name, before the Players Championship, putting him second on the all time list.

Reaching 1000 centuries is an incredible achievement for O'Sullivan and in comparison Stephen Hendry is second on around 750 century breaks and is retired.

John Higgins reaching the 700 mark puts him in third and Robertson's 600 plus puts him in fourth with Judd Trump having around 500 completes the top five.

Just how many centuries can O'Sullivan go on to make?
