Goldberg Wants WWE Return

With almost every big name in the wrestling industry making a return in the past few years, one man who has remained suprisingly absent is former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Bill Goldberg. Well, 'The Man's' 12 year absence from the squared circle could be about to come to an end.

Goldberg's last match in a WWE ring was WrestleMania 20's infamous 'dream match' against Brock Lesnar, which was to be both men's last match with the company, at that point (Lesnar would return in 2012). Both men were roundly booed by the Madison Square Garden crowd and the match was a disaster of epic proportions. Even Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special guest referee couldn't salvage anything worthwhile from it.

But, for someone with as impressive (albeit short) career as Goldberg's, it's a crying shame that this abomination of a match is how many WWE fans remember the man who once went (apparently) 174 matches unbeaten in WCW en route to his first World Title, in 1998. Now Goldberg is back, virtually at least, as a playable character in the new WWE 2K17 video game, which he has been promoting heavily, featuring in the teaser trailer in which he is escorted by police to 'Suplex City'.

However, with a return bout between Goldberg and Lesnar being heavily rumoured due to the pair's involvement in the promotion of the game, Goldberg is more interested in a man, or more precisely, a 'deadman', who he's never faced before.

"Taker is an idol of mine. I've know him since before I got into the business. I very much respect him both in and out of the ring - as a human being first and foremost, but also as a wrestler, with all he's achieved. Going up against him would be a dream come true for me - and the fans, obviously."

As for Lesnar? Never say never:

"I've said it before and I'll say it again: [the past is] water under the bridge. If WWE wants to make good money, and have a good opponent for Brock... hey, who knows?"

Dear Vince, WrestleMania 33: Goldberg vs The Undertaker. Make it happen.
