Tributes Pour In After Darts Star Kyle Anderson Dies, Aged 33

Tributes Pour In After Darts Star Kyle Anderson Dies, Aged 33

Tributes have been paid to popular Australian darts star Kyle Anderson following his death, aged 33.

Tributes have poured in for Australian darts player Kyle Anderson, who has passed away at the age of 33.

Anderson, known as ‘The Original’, was a regular at the coveted PDC World Championships, reaching the last 32 five times.

In a poignant Instagram post, just hours before his death, Anderson wrote: “Getting all too regular now,” attached with a picture of him in hospital.

The darts ace, from Perth, Australia, contracted COVID-19 last year and suffered with diabetes, however, his cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

A fan favourite in the darts world, Anderson first shot to fame after he achieved the second televised nine-darter in the semi-finals of the 2017 European Championship.

The 33-year-old would then go on to win his first ranking title at a Players Championship event in August 2017 and won the Auckland Darts Masters a week later.

His death, which has come as a huge shock to the darts community, has seen tributes pour in for the lovable Aussie.

Several darts players have taken to Twitter this morning, with three-time PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen leading the tributes.

“A lovely man and always fun to be with, very sorry to hear about Kyle,” said the world number three, before adding how he is a "credit" to Australia and world darts.

Meanwhile, Simon Whitlock, Anderson’s partner during multiple World Cup campaigns for Australia, echoed the comments of MVG.

Fellow player Stephen Bunting also tweeted: "Absolutely gutted hearing the news this morning.

"RIP Kyle Anderson. The darts world hasn't been the same with you not around brother. You always made me laugh every time we met.

"Never a dull moment with you around. We are gonna miss you.”
