Over the past couple of years, WWE's 'developmental' brand NXT has been riding a tidal wave of momentum thanks to the company's ability to attract the best talent from around the world. Helmed by 14 time World Champion and WWE Executive Vice President, 'The Game' Triple H, NXT has become the go to show for WWE fans wanting to discover the most promising, potential superstars and now the brand will feature heavily in the latest video game offering from 2K; WWE 2K17.

Speaking at a conference call earlier this week, Triple H announced that a special, limited NXT edition of the game would be made available for pre-order, containing three bonus characters (Apollo Crews, Nia Jax and Shinsuke Nakamura) while also revealing that the WWE's state of the art Performance Centre, where potential and current NXT talents are developed, will feature in the latest edition of the franchise.

"NXT's move to Full Sail helped us to maximize the WWE Performance Center, which I'm sure most of you are familiar with, but if you're not, it's our 26,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that we opened in 2013. It's really kind of the cornerstone of NXT and what I believe is the WWE's future. It's also a part of the game in which you can start your career so to speak at the Performance Center and go from there."

Every one of the 50,000 copies of the NXT edition that are available to pre-order will be signed by Shinsuke Nakamura, the former New Japan Pro Wrestling icon who has made an immediate impact since signing with the company at the beginning of the year. The NXT version of the game will only be available on Playstation 4 and XBox 1 and 'The Cerebral Assassin' seemed as excited to announce NXT's improved involvement in the franchise as he does to spit water everywhere, before each match.

"It's an incredible pack. NXT has really become the fans' dream, I think in some ways. And I think this is where this game is going to really kick in with them. Having that NXT edition just puts you at a different level and I'm excited for them, excited about the exploded growth and popularity of NXT and excited that we can carry that over into the 2K17 NXT edition on October 11th."

Triple H and Nakamura joked during the call about the Japanese superstar's long term health after having to sign so many copies of the game, while 'The Game' also stated that he believed NXT would continue to grow as a feature in future WWE video games. Personally, we're just excited to spend countless hours on the game kicking people in the teeth with Nakamura.
